Flowers for bees | BEE-5C
Some flowers are better for pollinating insects like bees than others. We call these bee-friendly flowers. Bees prefer flowers that are full of sweet nectar that is easy for bees to access. Nectar and pollen are easier to reach in single flowers (flowers with one layer of petals) than in double flowers (flowers with multiple layers of petals). Bumblebees have a longer proboscis than honeybees and solitary bees which means they can also get pollen and nectar from long tubular flowers.
Planting bee-friendly flowers is a great way to attract more bees into your garden. How quickly can you find the 15 hidden in the grid below? Once you find them, scroll to the bottom of the page to see what they look like and to discover their botanical names.
