The spectacular Grand Cascade at Alnwick is said to be the largest of its kind in Britain, with thousands of gallons of water creating a sculptural wave as they rush down a curvilinear staircase and spraying out through 120 water jets. The cascade was built in 2001 as part of a redevelopment of the castle gardens by the current Duchess of Northumberland.
